What are the famous choral works?

We’re singing two Mozart choral works and I want to know if you guys know any famous or popular work of his?

On the other hand, feel free to list your favorite or famous choral works by other composers.

Thank you… umm

don’t have to list Carmina Burana, Messiah, Missa Solemnis, Choral fantasy, Requiem by Verdi, Mozart and Brahms,Haydn’s the Creason and the Seasons lol.

Qualified as great or not, I am partial to Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Op. 80.

Stravinsky – the Symphony of Psalms is already mentioned, but I have to add;
the lovely, small and quiet Mass
the monumental Opera/Oratorio, Oedipus Rex ~
scene1, start at 25”

  1. Doc Watson says:

    The most famous and respected choral work in the world of classical music would be ‘Ode To Joy’ from Beethoven’s 9th. Symphony.

    You might also want to acquaint yourself with Mahler’s 8th. Symphony, known as ‘Symphony Of A Thousand’ or Igor Stravinsky’s wonderful ‘Symphony of Psalms.’

    All of these works for choral are intriguing and much more demanding musically than Mozart. Even Bach is more complex musically than Mozart’s choral pieces.
