Falling Behind - Settling Credit Card Debt.
It happens so easily doesn’t it? You get yourself a credit card and the first thing that enters your mind is what you can spend the money on. We have all been there, myself included. It starts off so innocently too, you buy a few things here and there and the next thing you know the Interest Free Period has come and gone. Of course, you only pay the minimum monthly payment required by the credit card company. It only barely keeps your card in check, doesn’t it? Of course, you are not remotely concerned are you? After a few months of fulfilling your obligations the credit card offers you a higher limit which you of course accept. Next thing you know you are in even deeper than you were before and of course the credit card company does not care whether or not you can afford the repayments and why would they? As a result you enter an agreement with the credit card company to “square-up” on the debt, which is only half a solution because you are pretty far behind the eight-ball at this point and the solution is only really worthwhile for them. So, what is the moral of the story? The answer is one word, discipline. Being disciplined with your credit card will solve these problems before they start and stop you getting into credit card debt. Remember, that while a credit card can assist with buying things sooner than you can actually pay for them, if you can’t pay for it during the Interest Free Period, then don’t buy it. I should know, I have been there myself.
