Ah. I actually think you’re right. I listened to the original and his tone definitely has too much edge. When you get the motion right and comfortable it’s almost feels like you’re just pinching the A and D strings, and the tone is definitley closer. Thanks for the tip.

the reason it never …
the reason it never sounds right is simple.
not many people know this but first of all this song “this riff in particular” is actually not played with a pick,it’s trickier that way to because you have to do alternate picking with your thumb and you pop ‘as in pull kinda up and out like your playing a bass and even even though it’s a little bit trickier I believe you start with an upstroke ‘with th the thumb.
other than that the way he plays it is right.
