How can I find my own unique singing voice?

I’ve always loved singing and it’s always a huge rise on my confidence when somebody compliments my voice.
However, when I sing a song, I tend to sing like the artist and not with my own voice. Is there anyway I can sing as myself and not the artist I’m singing along to?

Singing involves lots of confidence, so it’s good that you have that. And the fact that people compliment you and you can sing LIKE the artist, even better. To find your own unique voice, all you have to do is sing. Clearly, you can copy a voice easily, by the way I see it, so maybe it will help if you write or compose your own songs. That way, you can make it sound however you want, and you won’t be copying anyone, but yourself! I don’t think it is bad, copying a voice because everyone’s voice sounds different. I just hope you come to satisfaction. Hope I helped and good luck!!

you dont TRY to sing , singing is as easy as talking

just speak the words out dont force it

now example try singing a simple song like twinkle little star
you just speak the words no melody plain simple word
‘ twinkle twinkle little star ‘
its easy right? now try singing it the same way u speak it no fancy stuff just you and your voice

First of all most artists now a day use auto tone- which makes their voice sound higher and "perfect". This meaning that when you sing a song it probably will not sound like the way that it sounds like on the radio.
Secondly, don’t try to sing songs done by things younger artists such as anyone off of disney.
    (because of the first reason)
Thirdly, be yourself and don’t let others discourage you. try taking piano lessons also because listening to different can help to expand your vocal range.

i know that i’m not making much sense but just sing the way you feel and if you stick to your guns then it will take you far.

Oh and the answer to your question try singing in a lower key or "madlipping" the songs in different places. * madlipping is when you add "ooos and yeaahs" to the song*

As time goes on and your confidence increases, you’ll start adding your own little embellishments. Try singing a song you like over and over until you start embellishing it on your own.

It is inevitable that you will sound like someone when you sing. However, you can modify this somewhat by listening to a big variety of music in all genres. Listen to all types and styles of music and you will pick up things from different artists. When you begin to pick and match things you like from differing artists, you are essentially becoming your own artist. Once you do this, then you can learn how to truly express yourself singing because you feel comfortable with the style you’ve chosen.

what you do, is stop the music,
    look at the lyrics,
    and read them.

    than just singing them,
with any speed, or pitch how you want it.

try to make it a "better" song using YOUR vocals,
    record it,
    listen to it.

it wont always be perfect the first time. (practice makes perfect)
so dont be dis-courged if it sounds stupid.
its like you customize the song,
you decided which words are high pitched,
which ones are low pitched, and you decide if you want it to be a fast song
or a slow song, or both.

thats how you find YOUR voice.
its like you get to choose one.
